Tony Petrello is the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Nabors Industries Ltd. The company is one of the largest providers of drilling rigs and other related drilling equipment in the United States.
He has served in several executive roles with the company for many years, and much of the growth and development of the company can be attributed to him. He started at Nabors in 1991, in the role as Chief Operating Officer. The company is located in Houston, Texas.
Tony is known for his philanthropic activities. His contributions support several worthy causes. As a way for other young people to pursue their dreams as he has, he set up a scholarship fund at Yale University. Tony is a graduate of Yale. He achieved a Bachelor of Science degree and a Masters of Science degree in Mathematics. He had received a full scholarship from Yale, and he excelled in his studies of Mathematics. However, he never went on to pursue a career in that field. Tony realized his greater interest was in law, and went on with his schooling to that end. He attended Harvard University, at which he obtained a Juris Doctor.
Tony Petrello and his wife Cynthia are major donors to the Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston. Their daughter Carena has suffered from severe neurological disorders since her premature birth. Tony and Cynthia”s daughter has periventricular leukomalacia. The couple has donated $7 million to the hospital. They wished to help fund a neurological center at the hospital, for the benefit of other children similarly afflicted.
Another one of Tony Petrello’s philanthropic actions was witnessed during the hurricane Harvey storm, which devastated many areas of Texas. Tens of thousands of residents of the Houston area were affected by the disastrous strength and damage caused by hurricane Harvey. Additionally, many of Tony’s employees also suffered with damaged homes and properties. Tony set up a matching contribution fund at Nabors. He also arranged for meals to be delivered to the homeless families in area shelters. The meals were prepared in the kitchen facilities of Nabors Industries. Tony and Cynthia donated large sums of money to help restore the homes of the victims of the hurricane.
