Dr. Rod Rohrich is recognized internationally for his significant and cutting edge contributions in the medical field of “plastic and reconstructive surgery”, medical education, and his ground breaking work in facial aesthetics and aging.
Dr. Rod Rohrich is the current Chairman and Professor of the Department of Plastic Surgery with The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, (“UTSW”). Dr Rod Rohrich is the honored holder of the “Crystal Charity Ball Distinguished Chair in Plastic Surgery”, ad he has been awarded with the prestigious Betty and Warren Woodward Chair in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, as well as the Rod J. Rohrich, M.D. Distinguished Professorship in Wound Healing and Plastic Surgery. Dr. Rohrich’s illustrious and his medical acumen resulted in his appointment as “Editor in Chief” of “Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.” This is the official medical journal publication of the ASPS or American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Rod Rohrich, is also board certified by the ABPS or the “American Board of Plastic Surgery”.
Dr. Rohrich’s life originates from humble beginnings. He was raised on a small ranch in the rural part of North Dakota and he completed both his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees with the highest honors at the North Dakota State University and at the University of North Dakota.
Dr. Rod Rohrich, proceeded to receive his medical education from Baylor College of Medicine, in Texas , where he graduated with honors. His residencies were completed at University of Michigan Medical Center, and Dr Rod Rohrich did additional education and training in the area of pediatric plastic and aesthetics surgery at Oxford University in the United Kingdom.
His writings and published works cover ground breaking areas involving facial fracture recovery and repair, nasal reconstructive anatomy and new concepts of aesthetic rhinoplasty, full body contouring surgery, modern liposuction, safe injectable fillers, patient safety an welfare initiatives, cosmetic medical education, and breast implant and reconstructive surgery.
Dr. Rohrich has had the honor of presiding over 100 national as well as international symposiums and he has delivered well over 900 scientific and medical presentations on varying aspects of plastic surgery. Dr. Rohrich has authored or coauthored more than 300 “medline indexed” books and related publications.
