OSI Food Solutions UK scooped the celebrated Globe of Honor Award for the year 2016. The award is offered by the British Safety Council and it was due to OSI Food’s ideal management of environmental risks. The news were announced during an awards luncheon held on November 25, 2016 at the Drapers’ Hall, London. OSI was among the 18 organizations awarded for their commendable environmental management excellence.
What it Entailed
In order for an organization to be in contention for the Globe of Honor, it had to attain the maximum number of stars (5) in an audit scheme. This was the environmental management audit scheme conducted by the British Safety Council from August 2015 to July 2016. The organization was further expected to demonstrate their excellence in environmental management to an autonomous panel of experts. This excellence was to cover all areas of the business from the ground floor to the boardroom.
Lynda Armstrong OBE, the British Safety Council chair, congratulated OSI Food Solutions UK on winning the award on behalf of all the Council’s staff and trustees. She elaborated that the award was prestigious as it demonstrated an organization’s good management of prevailing environmental risks. She was delighted with the number of companies that won the award this year. She attributed the high number to the increased number of organizations adopting an integrated approach in environmental protection.
Organizations are taking this issue with more weight and on equal footing to their approach to safety and health making their operations sustainable than before. The award was presented to OSI’s Environmental Manager Europe, Kelly Grimwood, by the Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, Mike Robinson.
